Grants

Pell Information:

2023-2024 Pell Grants range from $750 to $7,395 per year.

In the 2023-2024 award year, the maximum Pell Grants are $3,698 per semester for students enrolled full-time, $2,774 per semester for students enrolled three-quarter-time, and $1,849 per semester for students enrolled half-time.
To receive a Federal Pell Grant, if financially eligible, you must also:
  • Be enrolled as a degree or certificate-seeking student
  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
  • Have valid social security number
  • Be making satisfactory academic progress
  • Not be in default on a student loan
  • Not owe a refund on any Title IV aid at any institution, and
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED/HiSet Certificate

Students who have earned a Bachelor's or Professional Degree are not eligible to receive a Pell Grant.

Pell funds may only be received at one institution during any given period of enrollment.  Concurrent enrollment at two or more institutions is not allowed unless a consortium agreement has been arranged.

Pell Grant eligibility is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For information regarding the FAFSA application visit StudentAid.gov.  The Jefferson College Title IV School Code is 002468.

SEOG Information

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG) provide aid to students with exceptional unmet need. Students must qualify for a Pell Grant to be eligible for SEOG, but unlike Pell Grants, SEOG awards are not automatic. SEOG award priority is given to students with the lowest expected family contribution (EFC of 0) and highest unmet need who complete a FAFSA by Jefferson College's priority processing date of June 1st.  Because funding is limited, approximately 375 SEOG awards are issued to Jefferson College students each year.

Full-time students awarded SEOG receive $600 per year.  SEOG awards are then prorated based on the student’s enrollment level:  100% for full-time, 75% for 3/4 time, 50% for 1/2 time, and 25% for < 1/2 time. SEOG awards are typically made in two disbursements (Fall-Spring or Spring-Summer). If funds remain available, single-term summer awards may be issued.

Access MO Information

Funded by the State of Missouri, the Access Missouri Grant provides educational assistance to residents of the State of Missouri.  Eligibility is determined by the student's expected family contribution (EFC) as calculated through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Financial aid applicants that file the FAFSA prior to the State's deadline and list Missouri as their state of legal residence will be considered for the award. Award amounts vary by aid year and school.  At Jefferson College, the award amount for 2023-2024 is a maximum of $1,300 ($650 for fall and $650 for spring). Eligible applicants with an EFC above 7,000 may have a reduced award.

To be eligible, a student must:

  • Have a FAFSA filed by February 1 * prior to the start of the award year
  • Have any corrections made to that FAFSA by July 31
  • Be enrolled full-time at a participating Missouri school
  • Have an EFC of 15,000 or less per FAFSA results
  • Not be pursuing a degree or certificate in theology or divinity, and
  • If a previous Access MO recipient, maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA, be making satisfactory academic progress, and not have used Access MO funds for more than 5 semesters.

Students receiving Missouri A+ Program funds will have their Access MO Award reduced by the amount of their A+ award, so most A+ recipients do not receive this State grant.
