Health Occupations Students of America

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is a student-led organization for high school students enrolled in a Health Science program who are interested in pursuing a career as a health professional.  The purpose of the HOSA organization is to develop leadership and technical skill capabilities through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.  HOSA started their goal in 1976, with their mission being to enhance compassion, skill and leadership in all of its students by helping each student achieve their own personal goals.  Being a member of HOSA is a rewarding and educational experience.

As a student of the Health Services program, Fire Science/EMS Technology program, or PLTW Biomedical Sciences program, you are eligible to participate in HOSA.  Students who join HOSA at the Area Technical School will be involved in leadership activities, fundraising activities, and competitions. They will focus on five main areas: professional development, community service, HOSA championships, public relations, and social activities. HOSA members take part in the State Conferences, the Spring National Leadership Conference and the Washington Leadership Academy.

Our HOSA members grown as individuals and discover new abilities by setting goals, electing officers, and planning and carrying out projects within our school chapters. HOSA members work with their instructors and community leaders. Whether planning a career day or a community service project, our HOSA activities are learning experiences because students direct them.
