Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Program is designed to teach students how to perform basic nursing care skills for residents in a long-term care facility, under the supervision of Charge personnel. Successful completion of this program enables the student to take the State of Missouri written and practicum exams for the Certified Nurse Assistant. This program consists of four pathways for students to select from. 


CNA PCT Pathways

Pathway 1A: CNA Only

  • Teaches students to perform basic nursing skills in a long-term care facility under the direction of charge personnel
  • Consists of 75 hours of classroom instruction and 100 hours of clinicals in a long-term care setting
  • Upon successful completion of coursework, students will be prepared to test for their Certified Nursing Assistant state exam
  • Tuition - Financial assistance available for those that qualify

Pathway 1B: CNA Apprenticeship - Earn while you learn

  • Apprenticeship Students will need to apply for and be hired for employment with our partner Bethesda Health prior to the start of the coursework
  • Teaches students to perform basic nursing skills in a long-term care facility under the direction of charge personnel
  • Consists of 75 hours of classroom instruction, 100 hours of clinicals in a long-term care setting, and 2000 hours of on the job training
  • Upon successful completion of coursework, students will be prepared to test for their Certified Nursing Assistant state exam
  • Upon completion of the coursework and on the job training, the apprentice will receive a certification from the Department of Labor
  • Tuition - Financial assistance available for those that qualify

Pathway 2: Patient Care Technician (PCT) Only

  • Meets 4 days a week
  • Includes 9 weeks of and consists of 100 hours of clinicals split between long-term care and hospital settings.
  • Upon successful completion of coursework, laboratory work, and clinical externship, students can sit for the Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) exam
  • Tuition - Financial assistance available for those that qualify

Pathway 3: PCT/CNA Dual Credential Option

  • Meets 4 days a week
  • Consists of over 110 hours of classroom training and 100 hours of clinicals split between long-term care and hospital settings
  • Upon successful completion of coursework, laboratory work, and clinical externship, students can sit for Certified Nursing Assistant state exam and the Certified Patient Care Technician NHA certification
  • Tuition - Financial assistance available for those that qualify

Pathway 4: PCT Bridge

  • Appropriate for individuals who already hold a CNA or PCA credential
  • Meets 4 days a week for three weeks and requires 36 hours of clinicals 
  • Upon successful completion of coursework, laboratory work, and clinical externship, students can sit for the Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) exam
  • Tuition - Financial assistance available for those that qualify
